Hybrid work flexibility for candidates outside the Charlottesville area A $500 monthly health insurance stipend A future retirement plan as the firm continues to grow Reasonable and achievable billable hour requirements with structured bonus schedule Responsibilities: Represent clients in construction litigation involving breach of contract, professional liability, and related disputes Assist with the defense of complex personal injury and wrongful death litigation Manage litigation matters through all phases, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts and related legal documents Conduct legal research, prepare case strategy, and draft persuasive legal filings Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other stakeholders Take increasing ownership of cases while working closely with the firm's founder Requirements: Licensed to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, D.C. 0–4 years of legal experience, including judicial clerkships Strong interest in litigation and developing courtroom advocacy skills Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities Self-starter who is confident taking ownership of assignments and client matters Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build client relationships Eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and thrive in a fast-paced litigation practice Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the firm's founder Bonus Experience: Litigation experience in construction, tort, professional liability, personal injury, medical malpractice, or insurance defense Law Office of Joseph W.
