Spring 2027 Co-op, Human Cell Models - iPSC Cell Biology Research
$30 - $50 per hourVertex Pharmaceuticals
Six-month paid co-op in human cell models research at Vertex Pharmaceuticals' Boston site. The position involves developing and characterizing iPSC-derived cellular models for drug discovery, working within a collaborative research team on projects supporting early-stage therapeutic development.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to develop and validate iPSC-derived cell models for muscle disease applications
- Establish and characterize iPSC-derived cell lines; perform immunofluorescence, gene expression, and related assays
- Identify and mitigate experimental risks including cell line variability to ensure reproducible model development
- Troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols for transfer across biology teams
- Analyze experimental data and communicate findings with data-driven recommendations to research team
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in Master's or PhD program in molecular biology, biological sciences, biomedical engineering, or stem cell biology
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic laboratory technique
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for scientific findings
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with experimental troubleshooting capacity
- Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to work full-time from January to June 2027
Compensation: $30.00-$50.00 USD/hour
