Security Guard

Job SummaryThe Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. They will frequently patrol the grounds, checking doors and windows, checking empty rooms and bushes, and escorting unwanted guests from the premises and making reports. They will encourage a client from leaving the facility grounds, if the client insists on leaving, the security guard will notify medical staff immediately.Essential FunctionsMaintains the overall safety and security of the facility by conducting regular patrols, remaining alert to potential risks, and enforcing established security protocols while on duty.Performs routine safety inspections of the premises, identifies hazards, and accurately documents findings to ensure compliance with safety standards.Monitors all entry and exit points, ensuring doors, windows, and restricted areas remain secure and address any breaches or maintenance concerns promptly.Controls and authorizes access to the facility by verifying identification, screening visitors, and monitoring vehicle entry to ensure only approved individuals are admitted.Completes detailed daily activity logs and incident reports, maintaining accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational policies.Observes, documents, and reports suspicious behavior, safety concerns, or unusual incidents, taking appropriate action when necessary to de-escalate situations.Supports client care by helping ensure comfort, addressing basic needs, and contributing to a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes well-being and stability.Observe clients’ physical and emotional condition and promptly report any concerns to clinical or supervisory staff.Take and document vital signs, complete wellness checks, and record observations according to program procedures.Observe and document client self-administration of medications in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.Respond appropriately to behavioral health or medical crises and follow established intervention protocols.Prepare and maintain client rooms and common areas to ensure a safe and supportive living environment. Support meal service and ensure dietary needs and restrictions are followed.Provide safe transportation for clients to program activities, appointments, and other approved outings.Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and readiness for transport.Assist with general facility upkeep and environmental services as needed.Support the admissions process, including intake support and documenting client belongings and inventories.Participate in and help facilitate groups, activities, and treatment programming as directed by clinical staff.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve a positive, supportive workplace culture that encourages teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.Communicates clearly and effectively with staff, clients, families, community partners, and regulatory agencies.Perform other duties as assignedCompetencyStrong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with clients, staff, regulators, and community partners.Proficient ability to read and interpret simple instructions and diagrams.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside of the box to resolve problems.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentPrimarily indoor environment with occasional outdoor work performed in a residential or outpatient treatment setting.May be exposed to individuals experiencing emotional distress or behavioral challenges.May work in close proximity to staff and clients.Noise level is typically moderate.Physical DemandsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the day.Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.Must have adequate visual acuity to read labels, and written instructions, and sufficient hearing to communicate effectively in a treatment environment.Travel RequiredModerate travel for outings, pharmacies, between facilities, external trainings or meeting; must be able to drive or otherwise travel between locations during regular work hours.PM21Required education and experienceHigh school diploma or GEDCertified in CPR/First Aid (within 30 days of hire)Preferred education and experienceAssociate’s degree in psychology, or social work or other related field or a combination of education and/or two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare or mental health experience.Med-tech or CNA Certification (within 30 days of hire)Work authorization/security clearance requirements:Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.Must successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal background check, and any additional clearances required by DHCS, DSS, or funding/regulatory agencies.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employees for this job.
