Moon Rabbit is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and hospitality-driven Bartender to join our team and contribute to one of Washington, D.C.’s most distinctive food and beverage programs. Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., Moon Rabbit is a modern Vietnamese restaurant led by acclaimed Chef Kevin Tien. Drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit of the Buddhist Jataka tales, Moon Rabbit explores Vietnamese cuisine through the perspective of a first-generation Vietnamese American chef—honoring tradition while creating something deeply personal, thoughtful, and distinctly our own. Our beverage program is led by Bar Director Thi Nguyen, recipient of the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Washington, D.C. Exceptional Cocktails Award . The cocktail program is an extension of the kitchen: ingredient-driven, creative, and rooted in the flavors, stories, and culture that define Moon Rabbit. For a bartender who is serious about their craft, this is an opportunity to work alongside and learn from one of D.C.’s most respected beverage professionals while contributing to a program that continues to evolve. We believe service should be warm, genuine, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever feeling rehearsed or overly formal. We want bartenders who can execute at a high technical level while still understanding that the person sitting across the bar matters more than the drink in front of them. A great bartender at Moon Rabbit is equal parts technician, host, and storyteller . RESPONSIBILITIES Provide warm, gracious, and personalized hospitality to every guest, whether seated at the bar or elsewhere in the dining room Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages with precision, consistency, and efficiency Develop a deep understanding of Moon Rabbit’s cuisine, ingredients, culinary philosophy, cocktail program, wine program, and beverage pairings Confidently guide guests through the beverage program and make thoughtful recommendations based on their tastes and preferences Execute all aspects of bar service with professionalism, urgency, organization, and attention to detail Maintain a clean, organized, properly stocked, and service-ready bar Work closely with Bar Director Thi Nguyen and the beverage team to uphold the standards and continued evolution of Moon Rabbit’s cocktail program Collaborate with the culinary, service, and leadership teams to create seamless and memorable guest experiences Participate in beverage education, tastings, and continued professional development Consistently uphold Moon Rabbit’s standards of hospitality, professionalism, and excellence QUALIFICATIONS Previous bartending experience in a fine-dining, craft cocktail, or hospitality-driven restaurant environment Strong foundational knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and proper beverage service Genuine passion for cocktails, wine, food, and hospitality Intellectual curiosity and a desire to continually expand your beverage knowledge Ability to learn and confidently communicate complex menu offerings, ingredients, and beverage pairings Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organization and attention to detail Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain composed during fast-paced service Positive attitude, humility, and a team-first mentality Evening and weekend availability Someone who takes the craft seriously without taking themselves too seriously.
