Vice President of Underwriting (PU&I)

About the Role

Our client, a leading investment bank, is seeking an Associate or Vice President to join its Renewable Energy Project Finance team in New York.

The team provides financing and advisory solutions to leading renewable energy developers, sponsors, infrastructure investors, and strategic companies across the U.S. market. The group is active across a broad range of transactions involving solar, wind, battery storage, and other energy transition assets .

This is an opportunity to join an established platform with strong transaction activity and take a meaningful role in the execution of complex renewable energy financings.

Responsibilities

• Execute renewable energy project finance transactions from initial structuring through financial close.
• Build and review detailed project finance models, including operating assumptions, debt sizing, debt service, cash flow waterfalls, returns, and sensitivities.
• Analyze project economics, capital structures, financing alternatives, and credit considerations.
• Prepare transaction materials, including pitch books, financing proposals, lender presentations, information memoranda, and internal approval materials.
• Conduct financial, commercial, and market analysis related to renewable energy projects.
• Evaluate key project risks, including construction, operating, resource, merchant, offtake, interconnection, curtailment, and counterparty risks.
• Coordinate with sponsors, lenders, tax investors, legal counsel, technical advisors, and other transaction parties.
• Support senior bankers in client coverage, business development, and new transaction opportunities.
• Manage transaction workstreams and timelines across multiple stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications

Associate

• 3–5+ years of relevant experience in project finance, renewable energy, infrastructure finance, energy investment banking, or a related field.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Solid understanding of project finance structures, debt sizing, cash flows, and credit metrics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a transaction-oriented environment.

Vice President

• 5–8+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy project finance, infrastructure finance, energy investment banking, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience executing project finance transactions through financial close.
• Strong financial modeling, structuring, and transaction management skills.
• Ability to manage client and advisor relationships and lead transaction workstreams.
• Strong commercial judgment and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and managing junior professionals.
