Compensation: $250,000-$325,000 DOE + Performance Bonus + Executive Benefits

About the Opportunity


Talent Group is conducting a confidential search for an accomplished Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join a successful, multi-location organization with operations throughout California and Northern Nevada. This executive leadership role will partner closely with ownership to drive strategic growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and organizational development.

The ideal candidate is an experienced operational executive with a proven track record leading multi-site organizations, building high-performing leadership teams, and creating scalable processes that improve profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.

Position Summary


The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the overall operational performance of the organization, providing executive leadership across sales, service, parts, rental operations, and administrative functions. This role is accountable for driving company-wide performance, establishing operational standards, and ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

• Partner with ownership to develop and execute long-term strategic initiatives.
• Translate business objectives into measurable operational results.
• Lead organization-wide initiatives that improve efficiency, profitability, and customer experience.
• Foster a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and leadership development.
• Build strong relationships across all levels of the organization while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership.

Operations Management

• Provide executive oversight of multiple operating locations.
• Standardize operational processes and best practices across the organization.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across all departments.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that support long-term organizational growth.

Sales Leadership

• Partner with sales leadership to maximize revenue growth, profitability, and customer retention.
• Support execution of strategic sales initiatives and operational excellence.
• Monitor organizational performance against established revenue and profitability goals.

Service, Parts & Rental Operations

• Collaborate with operational leaders to improve service delivery and departmental performance.
• Optimize technician productivity, inventory management, workflow efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Support strategic fleet planning, asset utilization, and operational improvements.
• Develop workforce planning initiatives and leadership succession within operational departments.

Financial Leadership

• Maintain accountability for overall operational and financial performance.
• Review financial statements, operational metrics, and business trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
• Drive disciplined expense management and strategic investment decisions.

Leadership Development

• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership teams.
• Establish clear performance expectations and accountability throughout the organization.
• Support succession planning, employee engagement, and organizational growth initiatives.
• Partner with department leaders to attract and retain exceptional talent.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Promote workplace safety and operational excellence across all locations.
• Support risk management initiatives that protect employees, customers, company assets, and business operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management, or a related field required.
• MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive executive leadership experience with significant operational responsibility.
• Proven success leading multi-site operations with full financial accountability.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, operational metrics, and business performance management.
• Demonstrated ability to improve organizational performance through leadership, process improvement, and accountability.
• Excellent communication, strategic planning, and organizational leadership skills.
• Experience within equipment, manufacturing, industrial, construction, agriculture, dealership, rental, distribution, or other operational industries is highly preferred.
• Valid driver's license with the ability to travel regularly between locations.
