Admitting Specialist | Patient Registration Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated Admitting Specialist to join our team in a regional healthcare facility serving the Southern United States. This role involves warmly welcoming patients, conducting interviews, and registering them efficiently while adhering to all applicable EMTALA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and register patients with a positive and courteous demeanor at all times.
• Enter patient data accurately into the system, including emergency room arrivals, to ensure proper identification and obtain consent for treatment.
• Serve as a liaison between medical and nursing staff and patients or their families, facilitating communication and coordination.
• Maintain punctuality and reliability by attending scheduled shifts consistently.
• Manage the hospital switchboard, directing telephone calls as necessary.
• Coordinate payment arrangements, collect deposits, and assist patients in accessing financial aid or transportation services when needed.
• Refer uninsured patients to Medicaid screening specialists for eligibility assessment.
• Verify insurance eligibility details, including payor information, policy numbers, group numbers, patient names, and relationship codes.
• Confirm that patient procedures have the required authorizations and document approvals accurately.
• Ensure registration data is complete and precise, updating records and adding descriptive notes as necessary.
• Assist with patient transport after receiving appropriate training.
• Process in-house transfers and update hospital service codes with correct accommodation details.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization's mission and values.

Education and Experience:

Previous experience in patient registration or admissions is preferred. Familiarity with healthcare regulations and insurance verification processes is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams are highly valued.
