Payroll Accountant

Our client is seeking two Payroll Accountants — one junior and one senior — to support its payroll accounting operations within a large enterprise environment. These roles are responsible for maintaining accurate general ledger entries related to payroll, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and ensuring proper accrual accounting for employee compensation, benefits, and stock activity. The Senior Payroll Accountant will take on greater ownership of complex reconciliations and provide guidance on accounting treatments. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger on each payroll cycle Perform balance sheet reconciliations for all payroll-related accounts, including accrued wages, taxes, and benefits Manage PTO and vacation reserve tracking, including year-end vacation payout calculations and accrual adjustments Process and reconcile cash clearing transactions associated with payroll disbursements Reconcile employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) activity and coordinate with the equity accounting team Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including variance analysis and accrual true-ups Assist with internal and external audit requests by providing supporting documentation and reconciliation schedules (Senior) Lead complex reconciliations, review junior accountant work, and advise on accounting treatment questions Required Qualifications — Junior 1–3 years of accounting experience with exposure to payroll accounting or payroll finance support Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliation Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs Experience with SAP or comparable ERP system preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Required Qualifications — Senior 4+ years of accounting experience with direct payroll accounting responsibilities in a large enterprise Strong command of GL accounting, accruals, reconciliation, and payroll-related accounting treatments SAP experience required; ADP familiarity a plus Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred or actively pursuing #J-18808-Ljbffr
