Early Childhood Speech Language Pathologist

The Early Childhood Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) leads group-based language therapy through the activities and routines of an early childhood classroom that is designed to facilitate and integrate communication development into all areas of the curriculum. This includes assessment, development and implementation of Therapy Care Plan (TCP) goals. The Early Childhood SLP works alongside a multidisciplinary team to incorporate therapeutic strategies and curricula that support whole child development, including pre-academic and social emotional domains. All intervention is provided in a nurturing environment through a multisensory learning approach, incorporating nature-based education. This role functions as the primary case manager for each student and offers guidance to a classroom based paraeducator. Early Childhood Speech Language Pathologist Work Location: The Parish School (Private School) Start Date: 26-27 School Year, New hire in-service starts August 2026. Full Time, with benefits Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Early Childhood Speech Language Pathologist has job responsibilities that fall under three categories: Instructional, Parents, and Professional. Other duties may be assigned or changed at the discretion of the Head of Early Childhood. Instructional: Administers, scores and interprets standardized and/or non-standardized assessments to provide data for the diagnosis and treatment of speech and language disorders as related to educational, medical, social and psychological factors Develops and assesses treatment goals for each student on their caseload Provides written TCP reports at scheduled times during the academic year Consults and collaborates with the early childhood educator and occupational therapist in planning instruction to incorporate pre-academics and occupational therapy activities into daily schedules Demonstrates understanding and implementation of the 7 Skills of Discipline aligned with the Conscious Discipline approach Works with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement a variety of supports and intervention strategies for each student on their caseload that build skills across developmental areas and promote successful group learning, self-regulation, independence and resilience (Social Emotional Language & Learning (SELLP)) Integrates therapy goals and speech and language development strategies into all curriculum activities Develops and implements lesson plans that include pre-academic objectives aligned with the school’s adopted curriculum Uses multi-sensory teaching approach and integrates nature-based learning Guides the paraeducator in implementing classroom behavior management, curriculum and student specific learning and communication strategies Develops and implements individual behavior and/or intervention plans in collaboration with Student and Family Services and the larger multidisciplinary team Conducts ongoing informal observations and assessments to track student progress, making adjustments and revisions to the TCP as needed Assessments progress across domains using the adopted curriculum three times and prepares the progress report Communicates and coordinates with the student’s therapy team for carryover of goals into the classroom Supports the arts and sciences program through collaborative planning, including nature education Parents Communicates regularly with parents and offers guidance about student progress, concerns and learning profile, including monthly updates Educates parents about classroom activities and instruction, including monthly posts through the Parish Portal and daily “Good News” Partners with families to build positive home to school connections Prepares for and conducts parent conferences a minimum of two times per year Professional: Conducts a thorough file review for each student on their caseload prior to beginning therapy or assessment Leads in round table meeting(s) Leads collaborative committee team meetings, parent conferences, and other team meetings as needed Plans and coordinates class field trips Fulfills professional development requirements as outlined by the school Maintains student records and professional licensure as required by law, establishment's policy, and administrative regulations Provides counseling and guidance on language development and therapy to parents and other staff members Participates in select committees as needed Fosters a positive work culture An empathetic person who is able to problem solve complex situations with staff and families An individual who possesses an appreciation for the history and traditions of The Parish School as well as the ability to articulate the school’s values and aspirations to current stakeholders and external audiences A working style that is conducive to managing multiple projects with differing priorities and timelines for completion, delegating and coaching as is appropriate Knowledge of current trends and practices within the field of speech language pathology, and best practices for classroom-based intervention with students who have learning differences Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak compellingly on behalf of an organization An individual who consistently demonstrates sound judgement in decision making, dependability and an ability to maintain confidentiality A strong passion for lifelong learning and a desire to continue professional development A nurturing and friendly personality and effective interpersonal skills A detail-oriented individual with the ability to organize and collaborate with others A proactive self-starter who thinks independently and displays flexibility and creativity Ability to create a challenging, well-managed, safe, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes the development of the whole child Ensures a safe and secure environment for all staff and students by proactively monitoring facilities, enforcing safety protocols, and responding promptly to potential hazards or incidents, including during all drills. Skills/ Education Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and current Texas and ASHA licenses. Ability to create a rigorous, well managed, risk-free, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes academic and social excellence for every student. A minimum of three years’ experience preferred in early intervention and group based therapy. Strong Clinical Fellow applicants will be considered Highly proficient in MS Office applications Must demonstrate leadership, excellent oral and written skills for communication, dependability, innovation, initiative, responsiveness to client needs, interpersonal, teamwork, sound judgment, self-management and adaptability skills.
