IT Specialist (Systems Administration)

DutiesIncumbent serves as an IT Specialist reporting to the NAS Monitoring Team (NMT). This position provides Hardware Team support for the Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS).This position performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. The incumbent serves as a technical specialist for large work activities on a variety of projects for hardware, network components, firmware, switching, infrastructure, and database. Responsible for contributing to all phases of project planning and implementation including deployment strategies and field impact considerations. Associated activities are related to RMLS design, development, installation, testing, implementation, evaluation, maintenance, and monitoring.Typical duties include:1. Evaluating and analyzing all facets of Real-time Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS) operations and activities associated with the system;2. Conducting functional verification and evaluating test activities to ensure that developed changes are implemented as designed and comply with RMLS requirements;3. Reviewing and evaluating reported defects and proposed program improvements;4. Providing support for the planning, development, testing, and maintenance of current and future NAS systems;5. Applying RMLS expertise in the development of new and improved concepts, enhancements, and techniques for advancing the current systems; and6. Recommending modifications, enhancement, and problem resolution to support system restorations to the operational RMLS.Contribute to solving difficult technical issues working alongside other team members. Resolves all but unique technical problems individually or with limited guidance from a more experienced technical specialist. Develops plans, techniques, and policies to address current or anticipated problems and issues. Works with leads, team members and management to jointly solve problemsApplies knowledge and experience with enterprise maintenance management and remote monitoring of real-time aviation systems and services; Enterprise system level design and architecture, and designing/implementing solutions utilizing current technology; Integrating, maintaining and troubleshooting both legacy and modern protocols with Performance Technology and Ventnor hardware and software products; experience in maintaining application servers in a multi-node Oracle Clustered/Streams environment; experience in mediating and routing data across multiple applications, services for both internal systems and external services using latest technology.Possesses experience with enterprise system level design employing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in a multi-node Oracle Clustered/Streams environment. Integrates message-oriented middleware appliances and software that routes information between applications, devices and user interfaces. Has experience in integrating, maintaining and troubleshooting WebLogic/Solace, Zookeeper and Red Hat Fuse hardware/software products.
