Lead HR Operations - Employee Relations - Compliance - Talent Acquisition Our client is seeking a hands‑on, employee‑focused Human Resources Manager to serve as the primary HR resource for managers and employees across the organization. This is a highly visible role that will own the day‑to‑day Human Resources function while helping build the HR infrastructure necessary to support future growth and organizational success. Reporting directly to the President, this position offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact by driving employee relations, recruiting, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management while partnering closely with Operations, Finance, Payroll, and Executive Leadership. Position Overview The Human Resources Manager will oversee all core HR functions, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and HR operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive HR professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, coaching managers, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance while helping create a positive and productive workplace culture. As the organization continues to grow, this role will expand into more strategic responsibilities, including talent development, succession planning, workforce planning, leadership support, and organizational effectiveness initiatives. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & HR Operations Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers across all departments and locations. Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Support managers with employee coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans (PIPs). Manage employee relations concerns, conflict resolution, ADA accommodations, FMLA/CFRA leave administration, and interactive processes. Conduct exit interviews and identify trends impacting engagement and retention. Maintain accurate personnel records and HR documentation. Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Manage full‑cycle recruiting from sourcing through onboarding. Partner with hiring managers to define staffing needs and hiring strategies. Coordinate candidate screening, interviewing, reference checks, and offer management. Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to support employee success. Build recruiting pipelines through networking, educational institutions, staffing partners, and industry resources. Track recruiting metrics and continuously improve hiring processes and candidate experience. Compliance, Benefits & HR Administration Ensure compliance with federal, California, Texas, and local employment regulations. Administer leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, EDD Disability, and Workers' Compensation coordination. Manage employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, COBRA, and 401(k). Maintain employee handbook, policies, and compliance documentation. Coordinate audits, reporting requirements, labor law postings, and regulatory compliance initiatives. Partner closely with Payroll and Finance to support accurate HR and payroll administration. Performance Management & Leadership Support Administer performance review and goal‑setting processes. Coach managers on employee development, performance documentation, and corrective actions. Develop and facilitate management and supervisory training programs. Support employee development initiatives and succession planning efforts. Partner with leadership to identify and develop high‑potential employees. Organizational Development & Strategic HR Support workforce planning and organizational growth initiatives. Assist with change management and organizational development projects. Recommend improvements to HR systems, processes, and organizational effectiveness programs. Contribute to long‑term talent management and succession planning strategies. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred. 5–7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience. Strong employee relations and HR operations experience required. Extensive knowledge of California employment law required. Multi‑state HR experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting service, logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, or operational environments preferred. PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certification strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain). Skills & Abilities Strong employee relations, conflict resolution, and investigation experience. Deep understanding of California labor law, compliance, and HR best practices. Proven ability to balance employee advocacy with business objectives. Comfortable handling difficult conversations and sensitive workplace matters. Strong coaching and influencing skills without direct authority. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of ownership and accountability. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Customer‑service mindset with a passion for supporting employees and leaders. Why Join?
