We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a growing organization in Bakersfield, California. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, comfortable managing full-cycle payroll in QuickBooks Desktop, and attentive to compliance requirements. The role involves maintaining precise payroll records, preparing certified payroll documentation, and working closely with internal teams to resolve payroll questions efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing on a weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly schedule using QuickBooks Desktop.

• Examine timesheets, pay rates, deductions, and earnings data to confirm each payroll run is complete and accurate.

• Keep payroll files and employee compensation records up to date while protecting sensitive information.

• Prepare certified payroll submissions and related documentation in accordance with prevailing wage obligations.

• Administer garnishments, tax deductions, benefit withholdings, and direct deposit changes with accuracy and timeliness.

• Reconcile payroll transactions, identify discrepancies, and support reviews or audit requests tied to payroll activity.

• Answer employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and paycheck variances in a clear and thorough manner.

• Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including wage reporting and W-2 preparation, and coordinate with HR and accounting to maintain payroll accuracy.

• At least 3 years of experience processing payroll in a detail-oriented environment.
• Hands-on experience with full-cycle payroll for employee populations ranging from approximately 101 to 500 employees.
• Proficiency using QuickBooks Desktop for payroll administration.
• Working knowledge of certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance requirements.
• Solid understanding of payroll taxes, wage calculations, deductions, and garnishment processing.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and maintain accurate records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
