About the Assessment and Evaluation FacultyPosition The Assessment and Evaluation faculty member contributes to theschool's methodology and strategy for assisting in designing,implementing, and sustaining robust assessment systems andcontinuous quality improvement processes across the medicaleducation program. This role will also contribute to studentassessment support and medical education scholarship. Core responsibilities include: Program Evaluation and Continuous QualityImprovement: Assist with the collection, analysis, and reporting ofquantitative and qualitative program evaluation data. Assist withmaintaining archived evaluation data. Collaborate with IT team to develop and implement evaluationdashboards to support program evaluation and decision making. Maintain and advance accreditation standards set by the LiaisonCommittee on Medical Education (LCME) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Ensure that programmatic evaluation, student and learningassessment, and outcomes data are collected, analyzed, interpreted,and acted upon in a rigorous, systematic, and evidence-basedmanner. Work collaboratively with faculty, academic leadership, andinstitutional research offices to foster a culture of data-informeddecision-making and continuous educational excellence. Student Assessment: Assist in the analysis and reporting of student performance onstandardized and local assessments to guide quality improvementprocesses. Review formative and summative assessment methods. Collaborate with faculty on the initiation of novel studentassessment methods aligned with learning objectives. Collaborate with IT team to develop and implement learnerdashboards to support monitoring of learning outcomes andindividual student reflection on learning over time. Medical Education Scholarship: Assist with medical education research projects and producescholarly presentations and publications. Assist with the consultation and collaboration process forsupporting faculty, staff and students in engaging in educationalscholarship (e.g., resources in research design, sampling, IRBprocedures, data collection, analysis, and dissemination). Support collaborative research projects across departments andinstitutions. Assist in compiling an annual scholarship and research reportfor the Department of Medical Education. Qualifications Required: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education, EducationalMeasurement, Research Methodology, or a closely related field Demonstrated expertise in assessment design, program evaluation,and continuous quality improvement methodologies Experience working with accreditation standards and processes,preferably within medical education or a health professionseducation setting Proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods,including data collection, analysis, and interpretation Proven ability to translate complex data and evaluation findingsinto clear, actionable recommendations for diverse academicaudiences Experience collaborating with faculty, academic leadership, andinstitutional stakeholders in a higher education environment Strong organizational and project management skills, with theability to manage multiple assessment initiativessimultaneously Ability to handle sensitive institutional and student data withdiscretion and in full compliance with applicable regulations,including FERPA Preferred: Experience with LCME and/or ACGME accreditation processes,including self-study preparation, data reporting, and site visitcoordination Familiarity with learning management systems and institutionaldata platforms (e.g., Canvas, Qualtrics, or equivalent) Proficiency in data visualization and statistical software tools(e.g., SPSS, R, Tableau, or equivalent) Experience developing or contributing to faculty developmentinitiatives focused on assessment literacy and data-informedteaching practices Knowledge of national medical education outcome benchmarks,including USMLE performance data and AAMC standardized reportingmetrics Demonstrated ability to lead or facilitate cross-functional teamsand working groups in a collaborative academic environment Experience presenting evaluation findings or scholarly work atregional or national conferences, or contributing to peer-reviewedpublications in medical education or a related field Equal Employment Opportunity Statement The University of Texas at Austin, as an equalopportunity/affirmative action employer, complies with allapplicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination andaffirmative action.
