Within a modern 100+ bed acute care hospital, the ICU and ED Nurse Manager oversees integrated Emergency Department and Intensive Care services designed for high-acuity patients and rapid intervention. A busy ED featuring dedicated fast-track areas, resuscitation bays, and trauma-ready rooms works seamlessly with ICU settings that support complex cardiac, neurological, medical, and surgical cases. Standardized sepsis, stroke, and STEMI pathways, combined with evidence-based ventilation and sedation protocols, allow the Emergency Services Nurse Manager to promote safe, complication-free care. Efficient patient flow, rigorous infection prevention, and comprehensive incident command readiness ensure the ER Nurse Manager leads teams that consistently provide timely, dependable results.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing Emergency Services, the Critical Care and Emergency Services Nurse Manager works closely with a diverse, multidisciplinary staff. A highly visible leadership presence supports staffing and scheduling, daily huddles, interdisciplinary rounds, and regulatory preparedness aligned with Joint Commission standards. Key responsibilities for the Emergency and Critical Care Nursing Supervisor include developing a high-performing team, mentoring unit champions, advancing quality and safety measures, improving throughput, and standardizing clinical practice through policies, audits, and data-informed action plans.
