Assistant Athletic Director of Communications Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the AssistantAthletic Director of Communication is an integral member of CurryCollege athletics responsible to deliver the promotion content ofthe department's 17 sport varsity athletic program. The incumbentis responsible with all facets of game management, promotion of theintercollegiate athletic sports and programs, handling mediarelations and maintaining an athletic website to provide students,fans, parents and community with newsworthy information about thestudent athletes, coaches and the programs. Essential Functions: 1. Game Management: Carry out pre-game responsibilities for home and away games for17 sports, approximately 300 home and away game contests per theschool year including but not limited to exchange of roster filesand statistical information with opponent's athleticadministrator; Additional pre-game responsibilities (home only): Game programpreparation (all sports); Live Stats set-up (with designatedsports); Streaming video set-up (with designated sports); Stat Crewgame file preparation (all sports); Scoreboard scroll updating(with designated sports); In-Game Responsibilities for home contests: Manage pressbox/press row (including statistics crew, clock keepers, publicaddress announcers); Keep in-game statistics; Post-Game Responsibilities (both home and away): Compilein-contest statistics and file regular reports as required by theNCAA, including posting statistics on Curry Athletics website;import packed game files from opponent athletic administrator andgenerate game and updated season HTMLs to post to Curry Athleticswebsite; send SMS text messages; post game story with appropriatelinks to photos, statistics and player bios to Curry Athleticswebsite; send post-game highlights to faculty/staff e-mails; Additional post-game responsibilities (home only): Reportscores to home and away media; generate and send packed game filesand HTML box scores to opponent athletic administrator andconference office; write game stories; post scores to Presto Sportswebsite; Post all athletics schedules to the following websites: CurryCollege (Calendar of Events), Presto Sports, NCAA; Vote weekly in New England Division III Football Poll. 2. Production of Promotional Content: Work closely with the Department's Director of Athletics andthe Office of Institutional Advancement to assist in the creationand execution of a strategic athletic communications and marketingplan; Schedule pre-season photography (head shots, team photos, groupphotos). Arrange for action photography through Sports Pix; Gather team rosters, team schedules, coaching staff bios,player bios, season outlook, opponent information, previous seasonrecap, previous season statistics and results, and update all-timerecords; Produce weekly football electronic newsletter via constantcontact and possibly other sports as needed Assist in managing the department's social media presenceacross multiple platforms and collaboration on videoproduction. 3. Athletics Website: Manage the athletic website content including but not limitedto releases on player awards, tournament seedings, pre-seasonpolls, all conference, maintaining up to date team rosters andschedules, coordinating collection of information with theassistant coaches to maintain other athletic miscellaneous contentrelated to cheerleading, Inside Athletics, Fan Zone, facilities,and athletic recruits; Ensure athletic website content provides for current photogalleries of athletes, live stats, video clips, live video, postreleases on all Community Service Outreach events, and maintain allwebsite pages with current roster schedules. 4. Student-Athlete Nomination Process: Submit on-line nominations for all sports to appropriateconference office for weekly award recognition; Nominate student-athletes for CoSIDA Academic All-America; Assist head and assistant coaches in nominating and voting onpost-season all-conference teams and annual awards; Nominate student-athletes for in-season and post-season awardsfrom non-conference organizations (e.g. in football: AFCA, ECAC,d3football.com, Boston Globe Gold Helmet, Gridiron Club, NewEngland Football Writers). 5. Committees: Collaborate with Institutional Advancement to serve as a memberof Athletic Hall of Fame committee and research candidates'accomplishments as Curry athletes or coaches; write copy forpublications and feature articles in Curry magazine. 6. Budget: Implement and administer the sports information sub-departmentbudget ensuring compliance with expenditure controls and allocationof resources to ensure their most efficient utilization. 7. Supervision: Recruit, hire and provide supervisory oversight to 6-8work-study students throughout the school year; Provides supervisory oversight to Sports InformationAssistant. Additional Functions: Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation,professional protocols, and individual privacy; Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or theirdesignee. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management or Communications or arelated field of study is required. At least two years experience working in intercollegiateAthletic Communications Office. Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Possess excellent communication skills, strong managerial andinterpersonal skills within an extremely motivated, team-orientedatmosphere. Ability to work nights and weekends; there is limited travelassociated with this position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, PhotoShop,Illustrator, Acrobat), Stat Jack (live stats), BoxCast (videostreaming) , and Stat Crew and/or PrestoSports statistical softwarefor all sports is required, as is the use of a content managementsystem to update websites. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three to five years experience of working in anintercollegiate Athletic Communications Office.
