Phlebotomist III - Float

The Phlebotomist III - Float represents the organization as the primary point of contact for patients and is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with established procedures. The role involves working across multiple locations and settings including patient service centers, mobile environments, long-term care facilities, and physician offices while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent patient care.

Requirement/Must Have:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Strong customer service experience in a healthcare or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience required.
• At least 3 years in a patient service center or in-office phlebotomy environment preferred.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Draw high-quality blood samples from patients following established procedures.
• Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing.
• Provide coverage across multiple locations and roles as needed.
• Ensure all patient interactions are handled with professionalism and care.
• Explain procedures to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
• Ensure daily operational activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Support patient service centers, mobile services, long-term care, and physician office settings.
• Lead or assist other phlebotomists on site as required.
• Act as a coach, mentor, and resource for new employees.
• Provide onboarding support and client service assistance.
• Serve as point of contact for onsite staff and escalate issues as needed.
• Collaborate with multiple departments including laboratory services, billing, logistics, and IT.
• Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with all patient data standards.

Should Have:

• Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
