Reginal Food Access Specialist

Position: Reginal Food Access Specialist Location: Omaha, NE Remote Status: On-Site Job Id: 195 # of Openings: 1 The Reginal Food Access Specialist supports daily pantry operations to ensure efficient, respectful, and equitable access to food, basic needs, and community resources for all participants. This position combines participant intake, pantry operations, food distribution, donation support, data entry, inventory, and customer service responsibilities. Because Together’s Nourish team operates in a flexible and participant-centered environment, Food Access Specialists are expected to be cross-trained across intake, pantry floor support, food access services, stocking, donation handling, and participant resource navigation. Essential Job Functions Participant Services & Intake Provide courteous, respectful, and professional service to all participants utilizing Together’s Choice Pantry and food access services. Review participant intake paperwork to ensure completeness and accuracy. Accurately enter participant information and service data into required databases and tracking systems. Establish respectful dialogue with participants to better understand needs and identify appropriate resources. Provide community resource information and referrals as needed. Process SNAP applications as assigned. Provide information to participants regarding WIC and other food/resource programs. Support Nebraska Diaper Bank services, including verifying eligibility, maintaining recipient logs, and tracking required data. Pantry Operations & Food Distribution Support daily pantry operations, including food distribution, participant flow, stocking, intake support, and pantry exit processes. Stock and restock pantry shelves with dry, refrigerated, and frozen goods. Assist with inventory control using first-in, first-out practices. Assist with product rotation, waste reduction, and organization of pantry items. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming pantry environment. Implement and follow food safety standards related to storing, handling, and distributing food. Donations, Inventory & Documentation Receive donations, including unloading, weighing, documenting, and properly storing donated items. Accurately complete donation records, service tracking, inventory documentation, and other required reports. Assist with inventory management and communicate supply needs or concerns to the Pantry Manager. Maintain compliance with food safety, civil rights, confidentiality, and organizational standards. Team Support & Cross-Training Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, partners, and participants. Provide support to front desk operations as requested. Adapt to changing priorities and operational needs across Nourish programs. Participate in cross-training to support intake, pantry operations, donation handling, inventory, participant services, and resource navigation. Represent Together positively and professionally in the community. Abilities and Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to provide respectful, culturally aware service to people with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or escalating situations. Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Basic computer literacy, including data entry and tracking systems. Strong attention to detail in intake, documentation, inventory, and donation records. Problem-solving skills and flexibility. Ability to speak Spanish preferred but not required. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required/preferred based on organizational practice. Associate’s degree in social services, nonprofit management, or related field preferred. Prior customer service experience preferred. Prior experience in food access, pantry operations, community services, social services, or nonprofit services preferred. Experience handling donations, inventory, warehouse, or pantry operations is a plus. Experience working with diverse populations and volunteers preferred. Physically active position involving standing, lifting, unloading, stocking, organizing, and moving food or donated items.
