Accounting Manager

We are seeking a hands‑on Accounting Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day accounting operations of our growing luxury footwear brand. This is an individual‑contributor‑leaning role for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves in close, AP, cash flow, and tax compliance, while also being able to step back and advise on process improvements as the company scales. You will report directly to the COO and play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of the business. Key Responsibilities Month‑End, Quarter‑End & Annual Close Own and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and delivered on time Maintain and continuously improve close checklists, processes, and internal controls Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages Create/Pull P&Ls and be prepared to review with COO and Co‑Founders Monthly. Accounts Payable Management Oversee the full AP cycle, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment runs Manage vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies or payment issues Monitor AP aging and ensure timely, accurate payments Implement and maintain AP controls and approval workflows Cash Flow Management Monitor daily cash positions and prepare cash flow forecasts Partner with leadership on working capital management and liquidity planning Track and reconcile bank accounts and credit facilities Identify trends and flag potential cash flow risks proactively Sales Tax Compliance Manage multi‑state sales tax compliance, including filings, payments, and registrations Stay current on nexus requirements and changing state/local tax regulations as the business expands Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed Maintain documentation and support for sales tax audits Additional Responsibilities Support annual audit and tax return preparation by coordinating with external auditors/CPAs Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed Identify and implement process improvements and systems efficiencies Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Ability to pull & create reports for COO & Co‑Founders upon request. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in retail, fashion, consumer products, or e‑commerce a plus CPA not required, but a plus Strong working knowledge of GAAP and month‑end/quarter‑end close processes Hands‑on experience managing accounts payable and cash flow functions Experience with multi‑state sales tax compliance Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Brightpearl by Sage or similar ERP) and strong Excel skills High attention to detail with strong organizational and time‑management skills Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, growing environment Strong communication skills and a collaborative, "no task too small" mindset What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits Health/dental/vision insurance PTO policy Employee discount on products Other perks — hybrid/remote flexibility, 401k, etc #J-18808-Ljbffr
