Location: 1 Courthouse Way Suite 9200 Boston, MA 02210 - United States About the Office Assistant United States Attorneys prosecute all criminal and civil cases brought by the federal government and defend the United States in civil cases. Job Description AUSAs hired pursuant to this posting will improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents by prosecuting crimes that include violent crimes, narcotics trafficking, organized crime, firearms trafficking, and an array of other federal criminal offenses. This position is located in Boston but additional positions may be filled in Springfield, MA or Worcester, MA. Type of Position: This is a temporary position not-to-exceed 9/30/2029. This position may be extended or made permanent without further competition. Qualifications Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar in good standing (in any jurisdiction), and have at least three years post-J.D. legal experience. Preferred qualifications: Five years of experience practicing criminal law and/or civil litigation, superior academic credentials, and a demonstrated interest in public service. Applicants should familiarize themselves and comply with the relevant rules of professional conduct regarding any possible conflicts of interest in connection with their applications. In particular, please notify this Office if you currently represent clients or adjudicate matters in which this Office is involved and/or you have a family member who is representing clients or adjudicating matters in which this Office is involved so that we can evaluate any potential conflicts of interest or disqualification issues that may need to be addressed under those circumstances. Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $86,923 to $197,100, with starting salaries around $151,500 for lawyers who graduated in 2011.
