Primary Purpose of Position The Department of Criminal Justice is seeking applications to fill a nine‑month tenure‑track faculty position (F610765) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level starting fall 2025. The selected candidate will teach, conduct research that leads to peer‑reviewed publications, and contribute to service at the department and university level in accordance with the Faculty Workload Policy. Key Responsibilities Teaching (50%) – Deliver undergraduate and graduate criminal justice courses in person, online, and hyflex, including curriculum development, assessment, and the use of Canvas or similar learning management systems. Mentoring (10%) – Provide student support on career opportunities and guide graduate students in thesis and project work. Research (25%) – Engage in peer‑reviewed scholarly activities, publish research, and pursue externally funded projects, potentially collaborating with the Institute for Homeland Security and Emergency Management or the Juvenile Justice Institute. Public Service (15%) – Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and other service activities as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The ideal candidate will possess: Advanced technological expertise in teaching statistical and research methods. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with Canvas or a similar learning management system. Capacity to teach courses across undergraduate and graduate levels, in diverse delivery formats. Experience in curriculum development and assessment. Evidence of scholarly productivity with peer‑reviewed publications. Potential to acquire external research funding and collaborate within the department’s institutes. Commitment to service activities within the department, university, and professional community. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment. Preferences: All areas of specialization will be considered, but individuals with teaching specialization in Research Methods and Statistics are especially encouraged to apply. Minimum Education/Experience A doctorate in Criminal Justice or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution is required. Applicants must have at least 18 doctoral‑level hours in Criminal Justice or a related discipline. ABD candidates will not be considered. A Juris Doctorate does not qualify for the position. To be considered for the position of Associate Professor, the ideal candidate must demonstrate evidence of meeting the established criteria for teaching, research, and service at the associate level, in alignment with the expectations set by the department, college, and university.
