Job Opportunity: Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist
Our organization is currently seeking a full-time, board eligible or board certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist. We welcome candidates with interests in various specialties, including benign hematology, immune deficiencies, white blood cell disorders, or bone marrow failure syndromes. Experience in research and program development is highly valued as we aim to enhance our offerings in these fields.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will engage in:
- Clinical care, including both inpatient and outpatient management of hematology patients.
- Teaching and mentoring within the division.
- Active participation in clinical research initiatives.
As a vital member of the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Division within our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients.
About Our CenterOur facility serves as the primary referral center in the Southwestern region, managing approximately 1,500 new hematology patients annually. We have a significant patient base, including:
- Nearly 550 patients with congenital bleeding disorders at our federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center.
- Over 325 patients diagnosed with sickle cell disease or thalassemia.
- Close to 150 new thrombosis patients each year.
We offer specialized clinics for various conditions, including hemophilia, immunohematology, neurovascular diseases, and other chronic transfusion needs. Our team is committed to delivering state-of-the-art care and is involved in active clinical and laboratory research, with multiple ongoing clinical trials. We are looking for someone eager to contribute to the growth and development of our programs.
QualificationsSuccessful candidates must:
- Be board eligible or board certified in pediatric hematology-oncology.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in hematology.
- Possess the ability to collaborate effectively with teams on patient-centered, division-focused, and hospital-wide initiatives.
The staff physician will provide essential patient care services and uphold our mission of delivering hope, healing, and the highest quality healthcare for children and their families.
Position Duties- Patient Care Services:
- Deliver patient care services within your clinical privileges, including:
- Direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Subspecialty consultations and follow-up care.
- Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Urgent and emergent care as required.
- Aim for optimal patient and family-centered care.
- Support hospital patient satisfaction goals and division-specific targets.
- Adhere to divisional standards for patient safety and quality of care.
- Practice contemporary evidence-based medicine.
- Divisional Responsibilities:
- Work towards achieving annual goals and objectives for the division.
- Contribute to medical education programs, including:
- Supervising trainees and allied health professionals.
- Conducting teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences.
- Participating in postgraduate educational activities.
- Support the division's research initiatives.
- Encourage programmatic growth within the division.
- Assist with satellite efforts when appropriate.
- Professionalism:
- Treat colleagues, staff, and patients with respect and dignity.
- Foster a safe and collaborative healthcare environment.
- Support our mission, vision, and values, emphasizing family-centered care and clinical excellence.
- Additional Activities:
- Assist the Division Chief in liaising with the professional community and public as needed.
- Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside the organization to support divisional initiatives.
- Represent the organization professionally in medical and business communities.
- Possess essential physical and mental skills, including:
- Effective communication via various devices.
- Ability to fulfill after-hours or night call responsibilities.
- Regularly scheduled work hours.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
