District Support Pharmacist Part Time

Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for pharmacy teams. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled, overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and ensuring team adherence to safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same, and resolving insurance or medication issues proactively. Offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Support effective management of pharmacy inventory in all pharmacies worked by following best practices, with a special focus on protecting cold chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills for the job, including company‑required trainings, CMEs, and expanding knowledge to support patients. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception). Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, patient privacy, and workplace safety. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over time, pivot quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner, notice and respond to patient reactions appropriately. Communication Skills: Use verbal and written communication effectively, actively listen, ask questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions. Mathematical Reasoning: Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, or required bottles to fill a prescription. Problem Resolution: Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options. Physical Demands: Be mobile; remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, bag items; reach overhead; move fingers repetitively; lift up to 20 lbs; maintain visual acuity for small tasks; and perform other physical tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager. Optional physical tasks: Include additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager, including detailed oral communication and other tasks as required. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and stretch to grasp items. Move fingers repetitively; pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers. Extend hands and arms to place, move, or lift items. Control precision; quickly adjust machines to exact positions. Stoop and bend spine at the waist. Close visual acuity to perform activities such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, or visual inspection of small parts. Occasional lift up to 20 lbs and exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequent lift up to 10 lbs and exert up to 10 lbs of force; consistently lift or exert a negligible amount to move objects. Exchange ideas through spoken word, and receive detailed information through oral communication. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
