About this position Description: JOB TITLE: Director of Children Services DEPARTMENT: Children Services SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Chief Operating Officer POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Children Services Administrative Assistant, Developmental Therapist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Administrative Assistant First Steps Network JOB STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; 37.5/week Summary: Provide leadership, direction, and management of the Children Services department. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising programs to achieve the mission and goals of the department and agency while ensuring services are operated safely, effectively, and within established financial, licensing, funding, and accreditation requirements. Key Responsibilities: Direct and manage Children Services programs, including Early Intervention, the First Steps Provider Network, and Summer Camp Assess community needs and develop, maintain, revise, and expand services based on needs of persons served, funding opportunities, and available resources Develop and enforce department and agency policies and procedures in accordance with ethical and legal standards Ensure the protection of the health, safety, and rights of children and families Maintain compliance with applicable licensing, regulatory, funding, and accreditation standards Develop, review, and revise the department's mission, values, and vision Select, supervise, and evaluate agency staff and oversee independent contractors Identify staff development needs and coordinate appropriate training and professional development Establish and monitor individual performance objectives Assess the needs of children and families and direct planning for appropriate service expansion and enhancement Develop and implement marketing plans for internal, external, and new service markets Prepare, monitor, and revise annual budgets based on program needs, market conditions, and funding resources Direct, monitor, and control program revenues and expenses to meet established financial objectives Utilize person served input to develop divisional and departmental goals and objectives Develop and implement outcome measurement systems to evaluate service effectiveness Ensure programs conform to applicable quality, licensing, accreditation, and safety standards Participate in agency committees, task forces, management teams, and other planning activities Collaborate with departmental and agency leadership to align program operations, goals, and objectives with the agency mission Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor Qualifications & Skills: Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, and decision‑making skills Ability to effectively supervise agency and contract staff Ability to develop and manage budgets and monitor program revenues and expenses Strong planning, communication, marketing, and program development skills Ability to assess community and person served needs and translate them into effective services Ability to develop and monitor quality assurance and outcome measurement systems Ability to work collaboratively with agency leadership, staff, families, persons served, and community partners Ability to respond empathetically and professionally to individuals served Ability to interpret and implement regulatory, licensing, funding, and accreditation requirements Commitment to protecting the health, safety, rights, and dignity of children and families Physical & Work Requirements: Frequent local travel and occasional long‑distance travel within Indiana and other states as necessary Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain reliable transportation Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance required Constant visual motor skills and frequent manual skills Frequent sitting and local travel Occasional walking, bending, reaching, lifting/carrying 25–50 lbs., climbing steps, and standing Indoor work is constant; outdoor work is occasional Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally Constant attention to safety is required Ability to work safely and assist in identifying and mitigating potentially hazardous conditions Certifications & Training Requirements: Completion of all required agency, CARF, BQIS, licensing, funding, and other regulatory trainings Required training may include Human Rights, Individual Support Plans, Seizures, Medication Administration, and other applicable topics Maintain CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification Maintain all credentials and training required for the position and applicable programs Additional Information: For more information regarding this posting, you may contact Deanne Woods at View email address on click.appcast.io.
