I’m working with a leading global investment bank looking to hire a lawyer into its Securitised Products Legal team in New York. The team advises the structured products businesses, supporting transactions from origination through to execution while working alongside bankers, trading desks and senior risk stakeholders. The work will vary but is centred around commercial real estate. You’ll advise on CMBS issuance and underwriting, CRE loan origination, warehouse and repo financing, together with secondary trading activity. Alongside transaction execution you’ll also become involved in the legal and regulatory developments affecting the securitisation market, helping the business navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. You’ll be involved in transaction committees, work closely with front office stakeholders and play an active part in helping the business manage legal risk, rather than simply documenting transactions after key decisions have been made. It’s a genuinely commercial legal role. The team has a strong reputation internally and has fantastic leadership above with people I know well. While the primary focus is commercial real estate, there will also be opportunities to support other securitised products and financing structures as your experience develops. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on US securities law and securitisation transactions, ideally within a major law firm or financial institution. Commercial real estate securitisation experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates with broader structured finance or ABS experience who are keen to specialise are also encouraged to get in touch.
