Field Safety Representative

JobPurpose ThispositionisresponsibletoassistintheimplementationoftheLylesConstructionGroup'sInjuryandIllnessPreventionProgram(IIPP).Inaddition,thispositionwillworkcloselywithmanagementtodevelopandimplementsafetypoliciesandprocedures,conductsafetyaudits,andprovidetrainingtopromotesafetyawarenessandaZeroIncidentSafetyCulture. EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities Essentialdutiesandotherresponsibilitiesinclude,butarenotlimitedto,thefollowing: Activelysupportstheachievementofcompanygoalsandobjectivesbyapplyingknowledgeofconstructionsafety. Continuouslystrivestoimproveday-todayprocessesandpracticesinsafetyandensureprojectactivitiesremainfocusedonsafety. CollaborateswithProjectSupervisorsandbuildsconsistencyinsafetypracticesandproceduresonallefforts. Ensurespolicies,procedures,andstandardsarefollowedandcommunicatedtoallpersonnel. Developandimplementthesafetyprogramsandconductsafetymeetingsandtrainingsessions. Ensuresafetyorientationtrainingisconductedforallemployeestoincludefieldcraftpersonnel. Assistsincontrollinghazardousworkingconditionsandunsafeemployeeactivities. Ensuresadherencetocompanyandregulatorypoliciesandpracticesthroughconductingregularwalk-throughinspectionsofconstructionworkareasoidentify,documentandrecommendingcorrectiveactionstoprevent hazardousconditionsandensurecorrectionshavebeenmade. CollaborateswithProjectSupervisors,Superintendents,andEstimatorstoprepareandreviewcustomersafetyrequirementspreandposteventorincident. Assistinestablishingpoliciesforpreventativeorcorrectivesafetyactionsthroughstudyingaccidents/nearmissincidentsandpotentialrisksingeneralworkenvironments. Conductssafetyinvestigationsforpersonalinjuryandpropertydamageaccidents;preparesformsandincidentreportsinaccordancewithfederal,state,localregulationsassociatedwithincident. Assistsinfacilitatingthereturn-to-workprogramforinjuredworkersbymaintainingcommunicationwithinjuredworkersonaregularbasistoensurecompliancewiththeprogramguidelines. PartnerwithProjectSupervisorsandCraftpersonneltomitigatesafetyissuessuchasconfinedspace,excavation,fallprotection,etc. Establishandmaintaineffectivebusinessandworkingrelationshipswithcraftpersonnel,internalandexternalcustomers. Completesinternaladministrativeorganizationresponsibilitiesanddocumentation,includingtraining, accidents/incidents,stateandfederalregulations,losttime,OSHA,DOT,etc.andassistduringanOSHAinspection. Occasionaltravelmayberequired. Qualifications Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualmustbeabletoperformeachessentialdutysatisfactorily.Therequirementslistedbelowarerepresentativeoftheknowledge,skill,and/orabilityrequired.Reasonableaccommodationsmaybemadetoenableindividualswithdisabilitiestoperformtheessentialfunctions. RequiredEducationandExperience Bachelor'sdegreeinOccupationalSafety/Healthorequivalentconstructionrelatedsafetyexperience Minimumoftwoyearsconstructionsafetyexperience,preferablyintheconstructionofwater/wastewatertreatmentplantconstructionorsimilar.AgoodunderstandingofCal-OSHA,OSHA,andDOTregulations. DesiredSkillsandKnowledge Knowledgeoffirstaidprocedures,techniques,andequipment. In-depthknowledgeofregulatorycomplianceofalllocal,state,federal,andcompanysafetyrequirements,includingCalOSHA,OSHA,DOT. Knowledgeofcorporateandindustrysafetypractices,processes,standards,technology,equipment,andmethodsoftheirimpactonsafetyactivities. Certificates,Licenses,Registrations AvalidCaliforniaDriver'sLicense Competencies Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualshoulddemonstratethefollowingcompetencies: EffectiveCommunication Collaboration ConflictManagement PersonalIntegrity PhysicalRequirements PhysicalDemands Thephysicaldemandsdescribedherearerepresentativeofthosethatmustbemetbyanemployeetosuccessfullyperformtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob. Whileperformingthedutiesofthisjob,theemployeeisregularlyrequiredtousehandstofinger,handle,orfeel;reachwithhandsandarmsandtalkorhear.Theemployeeisoccasionallyrequiredtostandandwalk.Theemployeemustoccasionallyliftand/ormoveupto25pounds.Specificvisionabilitiesrequiredbythisjobincludeclosevision,distancevision,depthperceptionandabilitytoadjustfocus. WorkEnvironment Theworkenvironmentcharacteristicsdescribedherearerepresentativeofthoseanemployeeencounterswhileperformingtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob. Office-Thenoiselevelintheworkenvironmentisusuallymoderate. JobSite-Whileperformingthedutiesofthisjob,theemployeeisfrequentlyexposedtomovingmechanicalparts,fumes,orairborneparticles,toxicorcausticchemicals,outsideweatherconditions,extremecold,extremeheat,andvibration.Thenoiselevelintheworkenvironmentisusuallyloud.
