Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care to a diverse ICU patient population, including Level 1 trauma, neuro-surgery, and cardiac surgery patients.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, interpret telemetry strips, and monitor hemodynamic status to catch changes early.
• Safely titrate vasoactive, sedation, and analgesic drips (e.g., propofol, levophed, precedex, fentanyl) to maintain patient stability.
• Manage ventilators in collaboration with 24/7 RTs and intensivists for patients with ARDS, sepsis, and post-surgical respiratory needs.
• Float between the Surgical ICU, Medical Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU to ensure seamless coverage across the unit.
• Participate in the pass/fail simulation lab and 1-2 day orientation to hit the ground running in this fast-paced Level 1 trauma center.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent ICU experience (no exceptions!), including experience with neuro or CV patient populations.
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Current, unrestricted RN license (NLC/compact accepted).
• Must pass the UNA Dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts).
• Comfortable titrating multiple drips and interpreting your own cardiac strips.
• Level 1 trauma or neuro experience preferred; BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care expertise: patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, trauma nursing, cardiac nursing, and neuro nursing.
• Drip titration skills for a wide range of vasoactive and sedation medications.
• Telemetry interpretation with GE monitors.
• Ventilator management across Draeger, Hamilton, PB 840, V60 BiPAP, and Airvo.
• Charting proficiency with Cerner.
• Exposure to advanced devices like CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, or Tandem Heart is a plus.
