Institutional Research Analyst

Overview The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is seeking an Institutional Research Analyst to support Yale’s mission through data‑driven analysis, research design, and reporting. The analyst will collaborate with OIR team members and university stakeholders to formulate research questions, design data collection methods, collect and analyze data, and communicate findings to a range of audiences. Principal Responsibilities Develop operational procedures for data collection, editing, verification, and management. Create and implement statistical programs to incorporate data from multiple projects. Design comprehensive relational databases relevant to scientific applications. Assist faculty and research professionals in selecting appropriate statistical methods. Evaluate research studies and recommend statistical procedures. Conduct comprehensive statistical analysis on diverse data types. Integrate methodologies across projects into biostatistical analyses. Prepare summarized reports, interpret findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations. Present oral presentations on methodology and analysis. Assist in preparing research grant proposals, focusing on methods and data relevance. Participate in manuscript preparation for peer‑reviewed publication. Provide training for less experienced employees. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Proficient in programming languages for statistical analysis and data preparation (e.g., R or Python; SAS, Stata, MATLAB). Ability to create large, complex data sets from disparate sources while maintaining data quality. Experience producing visualizations using coded processes (e.g., Tidyverse, Quarto, Shiny). Strong collaborative interpersonal skills, able to translate technical information to non‑technical audiences. Preferred Education and Experience Experience with R or Python. Training in design of quantitative and qualitative assessments. Experience executing queries against relational databases (e.g., SQL). Master’s degree or higher in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Required Education and Experience Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field with four years of experience or equivalent education and experience. Benefits Salary Range: $82,000.00 – $131,500.00. Time Type: Full time. Duration Type: Staff. Work Model: Hybrid.
