Research Technician I

The Research Technician I in the Taylor Lab will support translational pediatric brain tumor research integrating human and mouse tissue processing, molecular biology, and laboratory operations. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician I will contribute to studies focused on the biology of pediatric brain tumors using human and animal model samples and in vitro model systems, while supporting day-to-day laboratory activities.

Job Duties

• Processes brain tumor tissue, including dissociation, banking, and preparation for downstream molecular and cellular analyses such as PCR, DNA and Protein Electrophoresis and Tissue Culture maintenance.
• Supports experimental work using human-derived samples, mice and cell culture–based model systems relevant to pediatric brain tumor research.
• Conducts assigned laboratory experiments and assists with ongoing research projects.
• Collects, analyzes, and documents experimental data using established laboratory and computational workflows.
• Maintains laboratory inventory, orders reagents, and ensures proper storage and tracking of samples.
• Ensures proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and compliance with institutional safety protocols.
• Assists with interpretation of molecular biological data and the preparation of reports, figures, and manuscripts.
• Collaborates with laboratory members to support cross-project research activities.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement. One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with basic molecular biology techniques and/or cell culture.
• Experience with human and animal model tissue processing or translational research.
• Background in cancer biology, neuroscience, or a related field.
• Master's degree in a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
