Senior Business Analyst

Role Description

The University of Southern California (USC) is currently seeking a Senior Business Analyst (ITS) - Grants to join our Application Services team. The Senior Business Analyst (ITS) - Grants will support enterprise applications and business processes related to grants management, research administration, and associated financial functions.

In this role, you will focus on developing requirements, conceptualizing designs, and recommending business processes that support core organizational functions for the University in partnership with the Department of Contracts and Grants (DCG), Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA), and relevant administrative units.

• Leads planning, design, and conception of university applications’ functionality.
• Owns requirements, conceptualizes designs, and influences future-state business processes.
• Communicates and presents recommended improvements and solutions to business processes.
• Delivers engaging experiences that balance customer needs, business goals, and technical realities.
• Develops Human Centered Design (HCD) processes and approaches.
• Engages in standard business analysis methodology, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions.
• Builds and delivers design solutions that meet customer needs and expectations.
• Delivers high-quality project analysis documentation.
• Actively mitigates risk by owning tasks, resources, and changes.
• Leads collaborative engagement efforts with a broad range of business partners and stakeholders.
• Maintains currency on emerging technologies and approaches.
• Collaborates with team members and management to implement effective solutions.
• Aids the cultivation of an inclusive environment and a culture of trust and transparency.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
• 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven record of delivering end-to-end, user-centered products.
• Experience leading requirement-gathering interviews or sessions.
• Proven experience utilizing analytics tools to measure results.
• Experience developing test strategies and plans.
• Proven ability to facilitate collaboration across a broad audience of stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and applications.
• Experience operating with Lean and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven experience establishing strong working relationships.
• Ability to provide strategy and recommendations on design and development methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, computer science, etc.
• Five years of experience in business administration, information technology, or higher education.
• Expertise in ERP solutions that support human resources, recruiting, payroll, and financial business processes.
• Demonstrated experience in the support or deployment of financials, awards, and grants in ERP solutions.
• Proven ability to facilitate collaboration across a broad audience of stakeholders.
• Ability to leverage lessons learned from past experiences to drive continuous improvement.
• Experience leading requirement gathering interviews or sessions.
• Proven ability to measure results of user-centered products.
• Experience developing test strategies and plans using widely accepted test methodologies.
• Experience operating with Lean and/or Agile methodologies.
• Experience utilizing analytics tools to measure success.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
• Understanding of computer programming concepts.

Benefits

• The annual base salary range for this position is $124,202.41 to $140,000.00.
