And by Building Trust, we put safety, quality, and collaboration at the core of everything we do.What You’ll Be DoingAs a Civil Engineer, you’ll support the full project lifecycle – from feasibility studies and optioneering through to detailed design and construction. You’ll ensure compliance with technical standards while seeking opportunities for innovation and efficiency.Your responsibilities will include:Developing designs and coordinating input from multidisciplinary teamsApplying British Standards and Eurocodes in the design of reinforced concrete structures, pipelines, open channels, and related infrastructureProducing design sketches, reviewing models, and contributing to CAD and modelling workEnsuring all designs comply with DSEAR, CDM, and health & safety requirementsPreparing design documentation including Pre-Construction Information (PCI), Health and Safety Files, and Quality Assurance FilesAttending and documenting site surveys, reviewing opportunities, risks, and mitigation plansPreparing briefs for topographic and ground investigations and reviewing resultsMonitoring project progress against time, cost, and quality, and reporting deviations where requiredSupporting technical queries during construction, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and cost-effectiveness of any design changesDriving innovation by researching and introducing new processes, tools, and ways of workingAbout YouYou’re a motivated and collaborative civil engineer with a strong technical background and enthusiasm to learn and grow. You thrive in a team environment, build trust through integrity, and bring energy and resilience to every challenge.To be successful in this role, you’ll need:A BEng or MEng/MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum 2:1 degree classification)Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete design and application of British Standards/EurocodesProven experience in the design and delivery of buried pipework and pipelines, including both pressure and gravity systemsUnderstanding of hydraulic principles for open channel and closed conduit flowsExperience designing civil engineering structures within the water/wastewater industryProficiency with engineering software such as TEDDS, Staad Pro, AutoCAD, Robot, Civil 3D, or RevitStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical sketches and reportsExcellent stakeholder management skills and a collaborative working styleDrive to achieve chartered status with the ICE or IStructEIt would also be beneficial to have:Experience of producing design risk assessments and applying risk management principlesFamiliarity with survey techniques including laser scanning and drone surveysAwareness of SAP and financial management proceduresWhy Join Us?At Anglian Water, we’re committed to delivering safe, sustainable, and resilient water services – and our people are at the heart of that mission.
