Position Summary Per Diem CT Technologist – responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and computed tomography procedures, interpreting physician orders, administering contrast materials, preparing and operating CT equipment, and positioning patients to obtain high‑quality diagnostic images. Job Responsibilities Follow accepted radiologic practices to determine appropriate imaging protocols. Adhere to special instructions indicated on radiologic requisitions. Consult policy, procedure manuals, and reference materials to ensure compliance with established protocols and standards. Independently perform patient examinations in accordance with departmental policies. Collaborate with other technologists regarding prior imaging approaches when appropriate. Perform CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Assess patient history, condition, and clinical information to determine appropriate imaging procedures. Use standard identification procedures to verify the correct patient prior to examinations. Review imaging requisitions to determine required exams and consult with medical staff for clarification when necessary. Clearly explain procedures and equipment to patients to ensure understanding and cooperation. Recognize the need for and adhere to isolation, infection control, and safety precautions. Modify examinations as needed to optimize diagnostic quality based on patient condition. Demonstrate proficiency with hospital and radiology information systems (HIS/RIS). Select and access patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Accurately schedule exams, verify orders, and document exam details including appointment times, exam types, and patient reports. Ensure imaging orders are verified and processed correctly according to departmental HIS/RIS procedures. Demonstrate competency in CT equipment setup, operation, and routine maintenance procedures. Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment. Operate imaging and peripheral equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with hospital, departmental, and manufacturer guidelines. Identify, report, and document equipment malfunctions and notify appropriate personnel of missing or damaged equipment. Minimum Qualifications Associate Degree or accredited Technical Program completion. Radiologic Technologist (Temporary) Permit at time of hire. NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License obtained within 180 days of permit issuance. ARRT Certification in Radiography (X‑Ray) obtained within 180 days of hire. ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) obtained within 1 year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
