Job Description
Neuro/Stroke MedSurg Traveler

Schedule

12-hour night shifts, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week.

Assignment Details

Contract length: 13-20 weeks. Patient ratios are 1:6 for day, night, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years total nursing experience with at least 1 year in Med/Surg.
• Traveler experience: At least 2 successful travel contracts required; first-time travelers not accepted.
• Valid nursing license in NC or Compact State.
• Certification: BCLS (BLS) required; NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred but not required.
• Experience with MedSurg neuro patients and telemetry care, including IV starts and dysrhythmia management.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neuro and stroke-related conditions.
• Monitor and assess patient's conditions, vital signs, and respond to changes.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.
• Document all patient care activities and responses in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with care procedures such as feeding tube maintenance and central line management.

Compliance / Notes

Flu vaccine required. COVID-19 vaccine not required. Must work 2 of 3 major holidays. Time-off and call-out policies apply - specific guidelines provided upon hiring.
