EC General Curriculum Teacher (One‑Year Assignment, Transfer Eligible) Location: Glenwood Elementary School, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Job ID: 5386729 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Salary: NC Teacher Salary + 18% supplement Benefits: Full Benefits Position Type: Full‑time; Ten‑month year Qualifications B.A./B.S. degree in teaching or related field from an accredited institution North Carolina teaching certification in the appropriate subject area EC General Curriculum license; prior experience as an EC resource teacher preferred Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues, parents, and students Effective oral and written communication skills Reliable attendance and punctuality Proficiency with relevant technology Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school, district, and state Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning for students with disabilities following the general education curriculum. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments in accordance with established procedures. Instruct and monitor students using learning materials and equipment. Develop data‑based Individualized Education Plans and other required paperwork; schedule and lead parent conferences/IEP meetings as appropriate. Use technology to support and differentiate instruction and complete special education documents (IEP’s, etc.). Manage student behavior and implement individualized behavior plans. Maintain discipline in accordance with school rules. Provide feedback to parents and students as appropriate. Encourage and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding progress and needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for learning activities. Prepare classroom and students for class activities and community‑based experiences. Provide learning materials and resources for educational activities in special education and general education settings. Observe and evaluate student performance and development. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with diverse students. Direct and supervise teacher assistants supporting students with disabilities. Collaborate and communicate with general educators in co‑taught classrooms. Encourage parent and community involvement; return phone calls and answer emails promptly. Participate in professional activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, use handheld learning devices, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Terms of Employment Ten‑month year. Salary in accordance with certification and placement on the adopted schedule. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board of Education policy on teacher evaluation.
