Company Description Derry Township Municipal Authority (DTMA) provides sanitary sewer service to six municipalities, serving an approximate population of 20,000 residents. The service area includes the Township of Derry and portions of Hummelstown Borough, as well as the Townships of South Hanover, Lower Swatara, Londonderry, and Conewago. DTMA is responsible for reliable wastewater collection and treatment to support public health and environmental protection in the region. The Authority also manages stormwater program services for the Township of Derry, helping to maintain infrastructure and meet regulatory requirements. DTMA operates as a public utility with a focus on service, compliance, and long-term community sustainability. Role Description The Comptroller is a full-time, on-site role based in Hershey, PA, responsible for overseeing the Authority’s financial operations and accounting functions. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing financial statements, monitoring budgets, and supporting financial planning and analysis. The role oversees accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and cash management to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions. The Comptroller prepares financial reports for leadership and the Board, supports audits, ensures compliance with relevant regulations, and maintains internal controls. This position collaborates with management on cost analysis, rate setting, capital projects, and long-term financial strategies that support DTMA’s mission and service commitments. Qualifications Strong accounting foundation with skills in Accounting and preparation of Financial Statements. Experience in Finance and Financial Reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, and audit support. Demonstrated Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, assess trends, and support decision-making. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with public sector or utility accounting is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA) is preferred but not required. Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and regulatory compliance for municipal authorities is an advantage. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, communicate financial information clearly, and maintain confidentiality.
