Job Title

RN – Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown)

Contract | Full-Time | 12-Hour Day Shifts | Every other weekend and major holidays required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Safely administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and Amiodarone; manage insulin drips and BiPAP therapy.
• Provide continuous cardiac monitoring for all patients, interpret rhythm strips, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Perform lab draws and peripheral IV starts; manage patients with chest tubes and cardiac rhythm disturbances including heart block and chronic cardiac conditions.
• Serve as a point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, advocating for patient safety and quality improvement.
• Float within demonstrated competency and scope to other units including ICU holds, Med/Surg, and ED for stepdown or lower acuity holds as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Must pass EKG exam at facility orientation; ability to read and verify rhythm strips required.
• Demonstrated proficiency with lab draws and peripheral IV starts.
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone) and insulin drips.
• Experience with BiPAP required; minimum 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
• Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Familiarity with equipment including Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, GlucoStabilizer, and bedside cardiac monitors.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
