RN PCU / Stepdown – Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit

Contract | 12-Hour Day Shifts | Every Other Weekend and Major Holiday Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Administer medications safely and consistently in accordance with applicable state practice standards and facility policies.
• Manage cardiac drips and titrations, insulin drips, BiPAP, and continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring for a diverse stepdown patient population including cardiac, surgical, renal, and end-stage respiratory patients.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, including communication with family members and caregivers.
• Anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, applying clinical judgment and evidence-based practice to prioritize and deliver safe, effective care.
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and serve as a patient safety advocate within the unit.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in state of practice or covered by compact licensure.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation and be proficient in lab draws.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience with Epic EHR and familiarity with equipment such as Alaris pumps, PCA, bedside cardiac monitors, and Hoyer/Sara Stedy lifts preferred.
• CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
• Prior experience in an acute care stepdown or progressive care setting preferred.
