This limited term position may be extended up to 24 months if supported by workload or may become permanent if workload becomes permanent.

Under the direction of the Supervisor II, the Supervisor I leads the Reasonable Accommodation Unit within the Medical Management Services Section. This role ensures compliance with state and federal laws and internal policies relating to reasonable accommodation. The Supervisor I oversees three Analysts II, manages sensitive cases, provides expert consultation across divisions, and reviews all accommodation determination letters. The Supervisor I trains, guides, and supervises a team of three Analysts II. Monitors the reasonable accommodation tracking log and electronic employee files to ensure staff process cases on time and maintain accurate, thorough documentation. The Supervisor I guides managers, supervisors, employees, and applicants through the interactive accommodation process. The Supervisor I identifies complex or sensitive cases and joins interactive meetings when needed. The Supervisor I reviews all final approval letters, denial notices, and requests for medical clarification before issuance to maintain consistency and compliance with processing guidelines. The Supervisor I consults with Human Resources Bureau management, Labor Relations, the Performance Development Unit, the Legal Division, and the Diversity and Inclusion Office on complex and sensitive cases. In addition, the Supervisor I designs and delivers reasonable accommodation training for departmental staff, managers, and supervisors.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) Requirements

Applicants must include a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for this recruitment. The SOQ is a narrative discussion prepared by the applicant describing how the applicant’s skills, knowledge, abilities, education, training, and experience, qualify them for the position.
