Accounting Manager

A Consulting Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced professional to join their team as an Accounting Manager. Responsibilities Oversee the monthly financial close process and maintain the integrity of the general ledger and related accounting records. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting. Analyze general ledger activity, research variances, and resolve accounting issues as needed. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses, including cash, receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and assist with management reporting. Support the preparation of regulatory reporting and compliance filings required for financial services entities. Assist with capital adequacy calculations, regulatory reporting schedules, and other compliance-related financial analyses. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate submission of required financial and regulatory information. Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and audit support schedules. Serve as a key contact during external audits and regulatory examinations, providing documentation and responding to requests. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting efficiency. Participate in special projects and other ad hoc accounting and finance initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 5–12 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience within the financial services industry. Prior broker-dealer accounting experience is required; public accounting experience is highly preferred. Solid knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and the month-end close process. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
