Throughput Coordinator Discharge Lounge

Throughput Coordinator coordinates the assignment of patient care beds within the hospital, collaborates with multiple departments, facilitates routinely scheduled bed‑management meetings, and identifies, trends, and reports barriers to patient throughput. Responsibilities Evaluate and implement patient flow to ensure maximization of hospital resources. Participate in the discharge of patients through the facility discharge suite, including patient and family education. Evaluate, monitor, and improve the patient flow program effectiveness as it relates to utilization review, resource management, and discharge planning and care coordination. Establish patient flow goals in coordination with the Director of Nursing Operations, House Supervisor, and hospital executive team, and monitor progress through tracking tools such as NATE, ED dashboard, and Teletracker. Facilitate ongoing training and education of staff to meet regulatory, hospital, and departmental policies. Serve as the educational leader to physicians and employees regarding resource management and patient flow. Collaborate with the One Call transfer center process and implement actions for increased throughput. Experience 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting – required. Experience with electronic health record and bed‑management system – required. Bed‑management experience – preferred. Education Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) – required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred. Licenses & Certifications Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License; if Compact, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy. National specialty certification – preferred.
