Senior Tax Accountant

Robert Half is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, supporting tax planning initiatives, and assisting with audits and provision work. The ideal candidate has strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Based on general knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales and use tax filings, and other related tax documents. Based on general knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Based on general knowledge.
• Assist with tax provision calculations and support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Based on general knowledge.
• Research tax issues and document conclusions for management review. Based on general knowledge.
• Support tax planning strategies to minimize risk and improve overall tax efficiency. Based on general knowledge.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and government agencies during audits and examinations. Based on general knowledge.
• Maintain accurate tax records, workpapers, and supporting documentation. Based on general knowledge.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts to the business. Based on general knowledge.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting or tax staff as needed. Based on general knowledge.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including finance, payroll, and operations, to ensure accurate tax treatment of business activities. Based on general knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Based on general knowledge.
• CPA, MST, or progress toward certification preferred. Based on general knowledge.
• 4+ years of relevant tax accounting experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination of both. Based on general knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations. Based on general knowledge.
• Experience with tax preparation software and ERP systems. Based on general knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools. Based on general knowledge.
