The Association provides members with public policy advocacy, legal support and education, economic data, conferences, regular publications, and a range of programs and services that support professional growth and business success.

Job Description The Director of Professional Development & Member Engagement is a full-time, on-site role based in Montgomery, AL. This position leads the Association’s professional development programs, member engagement initiatives, conferences, special events, recognition programs, and scholarship administration. The Director will design and deliver high-quality educational experiences, strengthen member participation, and ensure programs align with the Association’s strategic goals and member needs. This role works closely with staff, volunteer leaders, instructors, vendors, venues, and industry partners to support REALTOR® success across Alabama.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of professional development programs, including continuing education, leadership development, specialty training, and learning platform administration.
• Develop strategies to increase member engagement, support new member onboarding, strengthen and promote member value and services.
• Plan and manage conferences, meetings, special events, and member engagement initiatives, including budgets, contracts, vendors, logistics, registration, and attendee experience.
• Track member needs, participation trends, feedback, compliance requirements, and program outcomes to improve education, engagement, and retention.
• Partner with Communications and Marketing to promote programs, events, member benefits, and scholarships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in professional development, event management, association management, education administration, member engagement, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, project management, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing programs, events, budgets, contracts, vendors, timelines, and performance metrics.
• Comfort using Microsoft 365, learning platforms, event management systems, and other digital tools.
• Ability to work on-site in Montgomery, AL, with periodic travel for meetings, conferences, and member events.
