Primary Function of Organizational Unit The position will operate under a dual reporting structure wherein the employee will report to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management. This position will maintain oversight for the CRM software. This employee will need a strong understanding of how to create targeted communication for specific audiences and media. This employee will serve as a primary content editor in addition to creating content for projects and publications. Other duties as assigned. Primary Purpose of Position The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with internal and external partners to advance and protect the institutional identity and reputation; reinforce and grow NCCU's brand in graphics, images, and words; increase NCCU's visibility in public and in the higher education marketplace; support NCCU's relevance and value to key audiences, including prospective students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff members, and encourage community engagement. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) applications; knowledge of office and records management or administration; knowledge of writing guidelines for various media and to create unique copy for each format (print, online and social media); knowledge of conceptualizing, writing, and editing strategic, accurate and concise content for varying audiences; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret, and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills, excellent editing; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment. Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Work Hours Work Hours Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies. Work Location Fully On-site (dedicated office at Duty Station). Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies Required Competency Knowledge - Technical This position works closely with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management. The employee will maintain oversight for the CRM software and will write and edit content for multiple audiences in varying media (online, print and social media). Required Competency Knowledge - Professional This position will collaborate with department representatives to develop initiatives and communication plans for the enrollment division. Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs and analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results. Required Competency Communication This position will be a strong editor with an ability to improve content substantively through fact checking and editing techniques. Serve as the primary content editor in addition to creating content for projects and publications. Required Competency Consulting/Advising This position serves as an advocate in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate. To effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, build and maintain relationships. Required Competency Program Management This position will be responsible for devising online profiles connecting students, university professionals, parents, cooperate partners in all forms of social media tools. Creating and improving websites that will enable the university to network with online applications processes and other electronic media databases. Ability to coordinate large projects with numerous components over extended periods of time. Required Competency Organizational Sensitivity This position will have knowledge of and ability to research industry best practices to assist the division, university, or unit in aligning strategies for North Carolina Central University publications (print and digital) with University strategy and guidelines.
