Relationship Manager

GENERAL FUNCTION:Develop new business and cultivate client relationships to provide products and services, both consumer and commercial. Maintain and service an existing portfolio of bank clients, serving as their primary contact for bank business. Facilitate, structure, and close loans. Represent the Bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs and participate in marketing all of the Bank’s products and services.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Products and ServiceServe as the primary relationship contact for clients and strive to offer extraordinary customer service by assisting with a variety of products and services, depending on each individual client situationSeek out prospective new clients, both individual consumer and commercial, through leads, cold-calling, previous relationships, events, and other appropriate means. Build strong relationships through positive, helpful assistance, listening, understanding, referrals, and introducing additional services and productsPromote SouthEast Bank loans and services to clients and convert loan-only customers into long-term banking clients, with multiple services per householdAssist clients as necessary with banking business (e.g. ensure that they can order new checks, replace lost debit cards, transfer money, research transaction errors, counsel clients on the use of online banking or bill pay, advise clients on budgeting and balancing their accounts, etc.Handle customer inquiries and complaints, and take appropriate action to resolve them timelyListen to clients and match the best Bank products to their needs, including personal and business deposit accounts, treasury management services, consumer loans and lines of credit, residential mortgage loans, small to medium size business term loans and lines of credit, consumer and business credit cards, merchant services and occasionally larger real estate loans, as well as other products that are appropriate.ProductivityGoals will be set periodically with emphasis on loan and deposit production, fee income, and other appropriate factors. Make goals and assist team when possible.Be aware of own book of business, economic conditions, rates, and other factors that affect productivity, and communicate with management about trends, concerns, successes, and other factors that affect the production of the team. Locate prospects for loans and relationships.LoansInterview loan applicants, collect, and review financial and related data to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospect and the specific merits of the loan request.Obtain and analyze financial data and cash flow for loan requests submitted by clients, including available collateral and property evaluations. Submit information and share data with credit and loan operations. Ensure proactive follow-up and communication with all involved parties.Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to compliance standards.Establish and negotiate, where necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the cost, repayment method and schedule, and collateral requirements.Approve loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval; prepare and present information as needed for proper consideration and determination.Monitor loan repayment activities, assist in computation, communication, and documentation of loan repayment schedules; take necessary action to collect from past due and charge off accounts.Work to correct and clear any loan file exception or deficiencies promptly.Work to manage annual reviews, loan maturity, refinance, and other loan events. Gather documents and communicate proactively with lending/credit team and clients to ensure seamless service.ManagementSet an example for your team by demonstrating a strong work ethic, competency in your job, adherence to policies and procedures, commitment to training, and alignment with the company’s culture and strategies.Manage your assigned staff to meet the needs of the company and your department. Management functions include hiring, training, developing, assessing performance, counseling, directing work, prioritizing tasks, terminating, and other administrative functions, such as time, attendance, staffing, scheduling, leave, etc.Know, understand, and teach the policies, procedures, and guidelines that impact your work and your team. Be proactive in addressing and working through unclear or inconsistent procedures. Communicate with appropriate management and ask questions to clarify uncertainties.Build and nurture efficient, productive, positive teams. Ensure that communication is clear, active, constructive, and appropriate. Ensure that each Team Member understands their role and maintains accountability for work and group production. Create a respectful, professional working environment that is free from harassment, discrimination, gossip, negativity, retaliation, bullying, and other elements that can damage work and relationships.Actively engage with leaders in other departments and throughout the company to promote perspective, learning, understanding, and efficient, productive workflow within the Bank. Communicate with senior and executive leaders regularly to build/maintain relationships and share information.Work with HR to address concerns, deficiencies, compensation, recruiting and hiring needs and processes, work errors, team issues, questions, personnel laws (e.g. ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.), reporting and handling situations, etc.ComplianceReview the Bank’s information security guidelines regularly and avoid activity that could expose the Bank to malware, scams, and fraud. Follow all guidelines for securing your accounts, access, systems, and information. Be proactive in identifying threats to information security and relay concerns to the information security team.Diligently protect confidential information and assist the Bank in ensuring that all confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately.Maintain an active awareness and understanding of policies, procedures, designated authorities, regulations, and laws, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Red Flags, Consumer Privacy, Fair Lending, other applicable lending laws, etc. Follow these at all timesCommunicate openly with supervisors and other management about policies, procedures, work conduct, and job functions. Ask questions to clarify any uncertainty when issues arise.Address with your supervisor questions about suspected violations of policy and procedure, and other laws and guidelines, as outlined in the Code of Conduct, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, lending laws, etcParticipate in training sessions and policy updates as necessary. Assist with coordination of scheduling as appropriate.OtherMaintain focus and professionalism at work; reserve personal matters for personal time.
