Triad Engineering, Inc. has an immediate need for a full-time Survey Instrument Technician for our Hagerstown, MD office.   Feel the security of working for the Triad team by experiencing the following benefits:Excellent compensation and benefits package including:Medical, dental, vision insurance401(k) planPaid holidaysLife, Short- and Long-term disability insurance with company-paid premiumsEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)Employee Assistance ProgramWellness ProgramCompany supported Professional DevelopmentPersonal Protective Equipment providedCareer Advancement DUTIESFollow all corporate and job site safety proceduresMaintain equipment by cleaning, completing preventative maintenance and performing calibrationsAssemble and set-up necessary equipment at project siteCoordinate field work for a variety of standard types of surveys, under the direction of the Crew ChiefPerform survey activities including, but not limited to, leveling, traversing, triangulation, metes and bounds surveys, construction surveys and photo control surveysKnowledge of the operation, checking and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, total electronic stations, data collectors, levels, and tripodsPerform physical tasks such as: line clearing, pounding stakes, setting monuments, and locating critical underground objectsKnowledgeable of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, coordinate geometry, and basic surveying computationsDemonstrate lot, area, and intersection (bearing-bearing, distance-distance, bearing-distance) computationsKnowledge of the reduction and checking of the field notes for the determination of positions and elevationsKnows basic sources of measurement errorsKnows principles of staking and markingAbility to enter field data and produce positional information (i.e., leveling, traversing, stadia, topographic mapping) with hand-held calculatorKnows how to interpret control point records and data sheets, as well as locate points in the fieldUnderstands basic plan reading and preparation (i.e., site plans, boundary plans, highway plans, profile and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, pipeline plans, foundation plans, and developing existing and finished contours)Basic knowledge of the terminology and principles of conventional draftingKnowledgeable of surveying ethics and technical standardsRecord field notes legibly and accurately for standard surveying operationsCommunicate effectively with crew members and other survey staffStrive to make each project profitableQUALIFICATIONSEducation High school diploma or equivalentAdditional courses in mathematics and surveying preferredExperience Previous survey or survey-related experience preferredAdditional RequirementsMust possess a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicleMust possess the ability to read, write and perform basic mathMust be comfortable communicating with the publicMust be comfortable with regular use of email, internet and basic Microsoft Office applicationsMust be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environmentsWork is performed under all weather conditions, often on busy streets or construction sites, involves extensive standing and walking, and includes clearing brush, working in difficult terrain, manholes and on difficult slopes. May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Occasional office work may be required. Work may routinely require the employee to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
