Civil Litigation Attorney

Job OverviewA law firm seeks a Civil Litigation Attorney for its Woodbury, NY office. This role offers the chance to work with seasoned litigators on complex professional liability cases in a dynamic environment. The position provides hands-on experience, client interaction, and mentorship while representing professionals, businesses, and insurers in diverse litigation matters.DutiesHandle all phases of professional liability defense litigation from inception through resolution.Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.Conduct legal research, assist with litigation strategy, and case analysis.Manage discovery, prepare for, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation.Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance.Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters.Provide proactive case management and client reporting.RequirementsAdmission to practice in New York required.2-6 years of litigation and/or professional liability defense experience.Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment.Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsAdmission to the New York State Bar.SkillsExperience in professional liability defense litigation.Knowledge of Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims.Experience with legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, insurance broker liability, or other professional liability matters.Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.Experience working with insurers and insured professionals.BenefitsCollaborative and entrepreneurial culture with strong mentorship and support.Significant opportunities for professional growth, client development, and advancement.Unlimited PTO for attorneys.Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.Robust discretionary and billable-based bonus opportunities.Meaningful client contact and hands-on litigation experience.This nationwide firm is known for practicing in a wide range of areas including Employment and Labor Law, Real Estate, Insurance, Financial Services, Class Action, Construction Law, Intellectual Property, Data Privacy, and many others.
