Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in a healthcare facility located in Kirkland, Missouri. This role involves providing care to patients presenting to the emergency department across all age groups, with an emphasis on managing high-acuity cases in a Level III trauma center setting. The position requires adherence to clinical protocols and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shift hours, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). At least 2 years of emergency department registered nurse experience, with a minimum of 1 year of travel experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a preceptor or charge nurse is advantageous but not required. Willingness to assist with precepting in the future is desired.
• Additional Information:
  • Must handle a patient ratio of 4-5:1, accommodating ESI levels 1-5, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis cases.
  • Proficiency in all relevant clinical skills such as peripheral intravenous (PIV) access, NG/OG tube placement, wound care, and splinting.
  • Knowledge of assisting with art line, central line, and chest tube placement.
  • Ability to perform rapid patient assessments and triage.
  • Responsible for completing EMTALA paperwork as per regulatory guidelines.
  • Must be willing to float to other departments if needed; agency and permanent staff are on the same float rotation.
  • EMR system used is MEDHOST EDIS. Medication management includes use of Omnicell; no barcode medication administration scanning is currently in place.
  • Night shift RNs may need to prepare medication drips with vial-to-bag adapters.
  • Will assist with call cards for psych patient placement during night and weekend shifts.
