Your Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth patient evaluations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and create customized care strategies
• Diagnose and treat acute, chronic, or episodic health issues in partnership with physicians or independently, depending on credentials
• Provide education to patients and their families about prevention, wellness, and effective disease management
• Prescribe medications and therapies as allowed by your scope of practices, such as through collaborating with healthcare teams
• Engage in ongoing patient follow-up and chronic disease management
• Work within multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation through electronic medical records (EMR)

Education Essentials

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Necessary Certifications

• Valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Virginia
• National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent specialty
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or the ability to obtain within 90 days)
