Travel RN – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Location: Richmond, VA

Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Nights | 3x12s | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Specialty: CVICU / Cardiac Surgery ICU (CSICU)

 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery patients.
• Recover and manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic surgery, thoracic, and vascular procedures.
• Monitor and manage patients with advanced mechanical circulatory support devices, including:
  • ECMO
  • CRRT
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Impella
  • LVADs (HeartMate II & III, HeartWare HVAD)
  • RVAD/LVAD (CentriMag)
  • Total Artificial Heart
• Perform invasive hemodynamic monitoring and titrate vasoactive medications.
• Manage ventilated patients and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) catheters.
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC Electronic Medical Records.
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition while maintaining the highest standards of critical care.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CSICU experience (5–6 years preferred)
• Recent Cardiac Surgery ICU (CSICU/CVICU) experience at a Level I Trauma academic medical center
• EPIC experience required (No exceptions)
• Strong experience with:
  • Post-operative cardiothoracic surgery recovery
  • ECMO
  • CRRT
  • IABP
  • Invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Vasoactive medication titration
  • Mechanical ventilation
