We seek a Direct Support Professional (DSP) who embraces our mission and is eager to make a difference. Responsibilities Implement the client’s Individualized Strategies under the guidance of a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional. Document services daily, including recreation, leisure, and activities of daily living. Ensure client rights, dignity, and privacy while maintaining a clean and safe environment. Support clients with maladaptive behaviors (verbal or physical aggression, self‑injurious behavior, property destruction, elopement). Assist with intensive care needs such as toileting, bathing, special diets, enteral feeding, and medication. Work at the primary location but be available to support clients across assigned sites. Collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies in a team approach. Implement and document specific programs from the Individual Plan or Implementation Strategy per procedure. Maintain knowledge of agency rules, report concerns, and follow safety protocols. Plan and prepare meals according to dietician‑written menus, monitoring dietary restrictions. Provide toileting assistance, changing soiled garments, grooming, cleaning glasses, and maintaining adaptive equipment. Obtain and maintain medication administration authorization, including annual training and adherence to policies. Maintain safe conditions inside and outside client homes and vehicles; report safety concerns and assist with repairs. Maintain a clean, sanitary environment through surface, deep, and sanitizing cleaning tasks. Respond promptly to emergencies in accordance with agency procedures. Transport clients in personal or agency vehicles to work, appointments, and social events. Monitor and relay clients’ medical conditions during appointments. Attend all meetings, shifts, and trainings as scheduled. Assist in orientation and training of new staff. Plan and implement community and in‑house activities with clients. Lead monthly client input meetings and facilitate Home and Community Based Settings rules training. Execute tasks independently with minimal supervision and cover building safety as needed. Maintain written documentation required for licensing and program requirements. Apply Home and Community Based Settings Rules and principles to client, family, and stakeholder interactions. Adhere to applicable regulations (CARF, DMH, DHS, DPH, etc.). Benefits (Full‑Time) $1,000 sign‑on bonus. 21 days of paid time off plus 10 paid holidays. Paid training. Tuition reimbursement. CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or Autism Certificate desired. Preferred experience working with developmentally disabled adults. Physical ability: climb stairs, use step stool, push/pull/reach, stoop/bend, perform daily housekeeping, assist clients with transfers, respond to emergency behavior, walk and stand significantly, lift or move up to 50 pounds. No medical restrictions that prevent lift/transfer or behavioral program implementation. Must be able to transport clients, own a personal vehicle with adequate liability insurance, and have a valid Illinois driver’s license. Must maintain driver’s status per IDOT, have a personal cell phone for secure messaging, and complete required on‑the‑job certifications for enteral nutrition tasks. Pass S‑TOFHLA literacy test. Must complete DSP and Medication Administration Training (CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, OIG Rule 50, CPI) and maintain authorization. Must adhere to community senior hours: evenings, weekends, overnight, and holidays. Must attend scheduled in‑service trainings. Must be at least 18 years old. Equipment and Tools Computer and software: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, Zoom, SharePoint. Household appliances: stove, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher, countertop appliances. Alarm systems for monitoring fire, weather, security. Telephone and voicemail. Office equipment: printer/scanner, copy machine, calculator, shredder. Adaptive equipment as per individual strategies: hoyer lift, shower chairs, walkers, wheelchairs. Agency vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts.
