Editor (Part-Time)

Zibby Media is hiring an Editor for Zibby Publishing/Zibby Media: a part-time position, working primarily in the NYC office, reporting to the executive editor. We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and well-connected editor to manage their own editorial projects, focused on upmarket fiction and narrative memoir. You will support the acquisition, editorial development, and marketing of our titles. This is a hands-on role for someone who excels at building relationships with authors, is a great developmental and line editor, and understands market positioning. This is a part-time position, with opportunity for growth into full-time. What You'll Do Edit manuscripts at both the developmental and line level, partnering closely with authors through revision Review proofs for various projects throughout the process Evaluate submissions and pitch materials, providing clear, well-reasoned acquisition recommendations Edit substack essays and newsletters Draft and refine book descriptions, jacket copy, and marketing/ad copy across formats Collaborate with the Executive Editor on other cross-functional projects (marketing, production, publicity) What You Bring 7+ years of editorial experience, ideally in trade publishing (agency, publisher, or equivalent) A demonstrated eye for upmarket fiction and memoir Strong developmental and line-editing skills, with the ability to write clear editorial memos and forge solid relationships with authors and agents Excellent writing instincts for copy work (jacket copy, ad copy, pitch materials) Comfort working in a part-time, deadline-driven capacity A collaborative, low-ego approach — we’re a small team and wear a lot of hats Additional Information This is a hybrid position requiring approx 24 hours per week; 2 days per week in our office in Manhattan; 2 half days of remote work on alternate days. #J-18808-Ljbffr Publishers Marketplace
